Goldtooth didn’t write ‘Death in the Valley!’ for your sad playlist. They wrote it for the last five minutes of the movie where the couple knows it’s over but floors it anyway. ‘Death in the Valley!’ is slick, loud, and doomed from the jump. But in the best way possible. You get that bassline first, almost smug. Then the drams and vocals kick in, golden and sticky, like sunlight hitting the hood of a car you’re about to wreck.

‘Reckless. Radiant. Inevitable.’

And it feels good. Everything’s clean and sharp and made to move. This thing’s got somewhere to be and it’s not looking back. The chorus hits like a smile with a loaded gun behind it. You’ll sing ‘Death in the Valley!’ in the car, in the shower, at 2am when you should be asleep. Goldtooth said they wanted to write a “true pop song.” Sure. This is joy wrapped in panic. Desire dressed up in neon. It’s gorgeous and dangerous and Goldtooth knows it.
