Love Ghost continues to climb the music charts, with their track “Somewhere Up On Mars” securing a spot in the Top 3 of the Soundville Spring Chart. We sat down with the band’s frontman to discuss how their songs come to life, what inspires their genre-blending sound, which artists they dream of collaborating with, and some of the funniest and most unexpected moments they’ve experienced.
Hi Love Ghost! Congrats to you and your track ‘Somewhere Up On Mars’ for making it into the Top 3 of the Soundville Spring Chart! Tell your fans how the idea for ‘Somewhere Up On Mars’ was born and what inspired you to create it.
Thank you! I wasn’t aware of that information so that’s very cool. And honestly somewhere up on mars came to me in a time when I was writing about 30 songs in a week. That period of my life was bizarre, lots of changes and heartbreak and new perspectives. I think the catalyst for somewhere up on mars was honestly just spending late nights in north Hollywood wondering around on the street. Sometimes I do that based on wherever I am and I just absorb the energy that I happen to bump into.
What was it like working with El Verumcito on this track? What stood out to you about this collaboration, and what did each of you bring into the song?
It was really cool working with El Vermucito on this song, he’s super talented and really brought his unique flair to the song that made it special.
Your music often blends alternative rock, trap, and Latin influences. Do you plan to keep experimenting with these genres, or are there any unexpected musical directions you’d love to explore in the future?
Yes! I would love to explore new genres and influences. I think as artists we need to always be evolving or else there is no point.
If there were no limits, which artist would you dream of collaborating with?
Put me in the booth with Paul McCartney. Hahahaha. That would be super cool.
What’s the most unexpected or funny thing that has happened to you or your group recently that you could share with your fans?
There’s a bunch of unexpected and funny things that happen to me, I had to remember what’s been going on but here’s one. So I parked my car in a public parking lot and was walking home and I heard arguing on the other side of a door that I needed to open to exit to go to the street. I opened up the door slowly and I saw a couple arguing. The guy rolled his eyes and said “yeah, yeah, of course you would say that.” Then I looked at the woman and she was completely naked. Not even a sock or anything. Neither of them seemed to comment on her nudity it just was there. That was pretty bizarre. Hahahaha.
How do you deal with creative blocks, and what helps you stay inspired?
Honestly I don’t try to force it. I go take a walk around the block or go to a new neighborhood when I feel less inspired, because why not?
What’s the most important piece of advice you would give to new artists who are just starting out?
Honestly, just release music. Write songs, release them and promote them. That’s the first step.
