The Pennydrops have presented their new pop rock single ‘Boundary’. The duo from York, J.J. Chamberlain and Izzy Hartley, create a space around themselves where genres flow so naturally into one another that they become impossible to pin down. When you listen to ‘Boundary’, it immediately becomes clear that this is The Pennydrops’ attempt to carefully and thoughtfully explore the theme of boundaries, but from a new perspective. The band speaks about personal and emotional boundaries, the very ones that are most often crossed not out of ill intent, but because of human complexity.

Emotional, Intimate, Grungy

-PurpleMistress

What is remarkable is that ‘Boundary’ is structured as a musical and emotional dialogue, which makes the conceptual nature of the release especially tangible. The acoustic sound creates a sense of intimacy, almost a conversational tone, while the guitar parts gradually build in density, shifting into a more grungy sound. The vocals J.J. Chamberlain and Izzy Hartley, are particularly striking and together they create a deeply intimate atmosphere. In their single ‘Boundary’, The Pennydrops sound as though they have already found their own language and are only now beginning to truly express themselves in it. I absolutely recommend it!
