Corey Schaefer built song ‘Sunburn’ around a personal story: decades of loss and addiction, and finding his brother’s son after thirty-seven years. He calls it monumental on a personal level, and the band frames it as a distinct facet of Frequency Overload’s identity. Metal rarely sits with this kind of material, reconciliation after loss, rather than rage or myth. That alone makes the subject worth attention. The band formed in spring 2022, but the members arrive with real mileage. Schaefer played guitar in Uncle Jack, Nothing Sacred, Kryonix, Misery, and Misery Kills, and toured supporting Devil Driver. Drummer Kevin Daily comes from Akalamathesia and Long Island’s Exit Veronica.
Loss, Reconciliation, Addiction

Bassist Steve Little logged time in Intogreen, Cobalt 60, Image Within, and Ionize. Vocalist Mr. Bush, a self-described “chokalist”, fronted Social Disease, Ironlung, Evileye, Welt, and Pummel. Combined, the four claim thousands of live shows behind them. ‘Sunburn’ by Frequency Overload is a heavy metal rock singl with heavy guitars and incredible energy. The vocals are distant and full of drama, which adds an incredible power. The story already holds up on its own terms, and the pedigree behind it suggests the song meets that weight.
