Here, she plants both feet in modern country-pop and writes about the gloriously reckless arithmetic of new love. The relationship has lasted three months. Jane’s narrator has already reached vows, a shared address and a different surname in her head. “Can you measure forever in a matter of months?” becomes the big question, and the song answers through domestic detail.

Then the chorus opens up, and her classical control becomes clear: she carries the melody with strength while preserving the nervous excitement inside the lyric.
