The Next Movement are a funk trio from Bern, Switzerland: J.J. Flueck sings and plays drums, Pascal Kaeser handles bass and synths, and Sam Siegenthaler plays guitar. On “MOJO,” they bring in the SoulVision Allstars Horns—René Mosele, Fabienne Hoerni and Dave Feusi—for a song about finding your confidence again. Mosele arranged the horn parts, giving the guests a defined place in the trio’s groove.

The chorus gets straight to the point: “I got my mojo back.” Flueck repeats it with the pleasure of someone testing the words out loud until they stick. Around that refrain, the writing stays loose and cheeky. A deep breath, a clear blue sky and a mind at ease sit alongside boasts and flashes of dance-floor humour. The voice of the song moves between those moods easily; its swagger has a story behind it.
