George Andrew Simons is a Bermudian songwriter and composer who releases music across hip hop, reggae, soca, gospel and other styles. He writes the songs, with vocals performed under the name 441 Bermy Band. Among his 2026 releases, “(From the Ash) Brown Kings & Queens” takes a subject large enough to fill its entire title. Look at where Simons puts the parentheses.

“From the Ash” sits to one side, present and impossible to erase. “Brown Kings & Queens” takes the main line. The people come forward; their history comes with them. It is a small choice of wording that gives the release its sharpest idea. Simons has described his songs as uplifting and thought provoking. Here, the two ambitions meet in a phrase that asks who gets called royalty and what they have lived through to stand there. That question stays with me longer than any grand claim about triumph would.
