On 19th December 2025, the British band The Mustard from the town of Bracknell presented their new single “Someone.” And it has to be said, this is a release with character: the band wasn’t afraid to take on a classic and cover a composition by the legendary Simple Minds from their cult album “New Gold Dream” of 1982. A bold move, but it is precisely in this boldness that the charm of the whole undertaking lies.

Cover, Reimagining, Energy

The Mustard instead took the path of reimagining it. The sped-up tempo lends the version a lightness and drive, turning it into a truly danceable, “boppy” thing. It’s no surprise that “Someone” became one of the highlights of their live performances: you can feel in it that very concert spark with which it all began. I definitely recommend giving it a listen!
